Jayzien's special photo's

Cheap Special Effects.

First of all, Sorry for not posting for a while and secondly welcome to a new post. So I have been experimenting with special effects, Such as this one

I achieved this 'Blizard' By getting a plastic container and blue tacking a base to the bottom of the along with the mini figures (I posed them before hand) The went a step further and filled the tub with water, After that I got baking soda and used a spoon to sprinkle a little over the water, The water held the soda up while I took photos coming down slowly and making a 'blizzard' As you can see the photo is a little blue, So I took it to photo shop and changed the colour.

So here it is the final image, White like a blizzard. I am quite happy with the out of focus of my custom bounty hunter, making it look like he is under water. If you like this style and want more please leave feed back. I will be making some similar with lights (Semi-realistic light sabres, That sort of thing)

Thanks

Some Building Tips. (With a proper post)

So I’ m going to do something slightly different today, I am planning to show you some tips for when it comes to making models stand out , look interesting . I will also show a build that showcases all these quality’s and point the our along the way.

INTEREST- The most important thing for your models interest, that’s not just making them have cool settings, but the whole model right down to the small things like walls.

The smaller the detail for me then it is the most important, So with things like computers making them small and compact is obvious but using a variety of printed plates, coloured studs really bring the model or computer to life, Here is an example of a computer build for part of my star wars Star Destroyer (I will show the ship at the end) The computer desk is quite simple but with a screen build off form the wall, it works quiet effectively.

Another key part is the bigger details, like walls they are big and require a lot of pieces, so not a lot of smaller pieces are built in, which removes the possibility of detail. But say if you where to make a wall starting with a dark grey base , the added plates along the wall and then went back to dark grey, you have added visual interest. In the photo here I show this quite clearly except it is towards the ceiling.
Also colour is really important the models, if are built to look amazing should be colour coordinated.

We now have ACCESSIBILITY, This area is quite cool because if you are building a multiple story building (Shown here) Then having SNOT plates on the top of each story is quite important because being able to pull off layers of the building is a really useful design aspect, this means that building interiors or just playing with your models is so much easier because you can take the other levels off.

To build this kind of building/aspect you need to get lots of SNOT tiles and position the along the top of the roof along with normal plates. (Shown here). Also to make access easier consider not building complete walls, with sides taken out.

Saving pieces is quiet hard and I often find that I cannot finish a build due to not having enough pieces, My solution to that is quite simple and that is using bigger pieces that add detail and interest to the wall, while don’t actually have anything key to the build, although they bring visual interest and save pieces.

This technique here shows slopes in the wall, creating something nice to look at despite is cold dark colours, the slopes themselves are very common in my Lego collection and I had no trouble finding enough for all the walls in my build.
Adding lights to the build is quite a nice way to show that my buildings aren’t just cold dark ships, and mostly I just use 1x2 white bricks for them.

STAR DESTROYER INTERIOR.
This article was inspired by the fact that the build I made this weekend, had heaps of quality’s that I kept seeing and reminding myself about, and finally after I finished it I decided to write about the quality’s and the build itself. Lets see if you can identify all the qualitys in the photos showen.

So the part of the build largely focuses on the prison cells, which only has two cells, but the prisoners are top priority captives, one being a mandalorian smuggler who would be a asset that if under employment of the alliance then would be devastating to the empire as he would smuggle food and supplies that the alliance would use to fuel the war effort, and the other captive is a alliance general, who I have used for my stories and or blog posts before.

The room outside of the cells shows two first order on guard duty, surrounded by supplies taken from both captives, The computer in the corner, is much like the one I mentioned earlier.

Moving upstairs we have a technician monitoring the computers with a wall showing the usual techniques for saving pieces. The ramp down to the main floor doesn’t serve much purpose but it helps with the story telling, explaining how the characters would get up to the room.

The other rooms are just boring areas to make the model bigger and look more impressive again they showcase running out of pieces.

So that’s all for today, I hope you enjoyed the model and please let me know if you think I missed any important building steps in the comments. And finalllt lets see if you can spot the easter egg hidden in one of the photos, comment where it is if you have found it.

Thanks for reading.

S-wing (A star wars moc)

Hey guys, sorry for being so lack lately. I would have posted earlier, but I had nothing to feature which really doesn’t help. So today I am featuring a ship From a Galaxy along time ago. This

ship was named the S-wing because the cockpit spins around (spin wing) Hope you enjoy.

The ship itself is made of four main parts, including the wings. It has a few main functions the coolest being that the cock pit rotates in circles allowing the pilot greater view of the battle field or just the space around her/him.

Moving onto the cockpit, well there’s not much to say it was build with the SNOT technique in mind? (Studs Not On Top), and I feel I pulled off its chrome sleekness pretty well, what do you say?  The cockpit doesn’t have all that much room, no more than an X-Wing’s.

The Cockpit.

The wings have unique details which I built in after finishing the ship, thinking it was too plain. The wings guns are twin ion blaster cannons, which are very capable weapon s in the battlefield. The wing also slide up in a position that shows its docked, ready for takeoff.  The other gun which is mounted at the top of the ship (Depending how you look at it) would be a very able anti personal cannon.

Lastly we have the engine, a small compact hyper drive for long trips and decent acceleration would be able to hold off in most space dog fights.

The engine and wings from the back.

Thanks, I will see you next time.

The Dragons That almost was featured before

Dragons that are familiar some how?...

So Dragons seem to be a pretty common thing here,  but there still cool and I am right back at ya with guess what another Dragon!

This Dragon is WAY... cooler than the last dragon, but there are a few similarities (I used the same wings and properly similar pieces. This photo here shows a view from the dragon's back which has a pretty fabulous tail if you ask me.

The other photo (head) is also really cool and it took ages to build with difficult piece positioning.
So that's is for now.
Please comment for more posts like this one.

A LEGO Star Wars Story

STAR WARS IMAGE STORY.

Hey guys,
it's Jayzien and here is a short story based on the star wars universe (with the Lego set ‘First Order Battle pack’). It will detail its actions/abilities, and I hope you enjoy it.

The planet that housed Starkiller base gleams in the harsh darkness, the resistance escape pod hurtles toward the planet. The five crew members try to catch a glimpse of the planet through the perspex windows.

Their mission was simple. They would go to battle station, built to withstand resistance attacks in space craft, the escape pod would land just East of the station and they would walk over to the station and use the computers to access the security plans stored in the hard river of every computers and use the security plans. Once the security was breached they would leave using the escape pod….All according to plan of course.

The reason for getting the plans is that  the resistance needs the security codes to spy on the first order transmissions, and with this information they would be able to move their fleet in order to counter move the First Order.

The descent into the atmosphere was hard and bumpy but the the crew made it without any severe injuries. The trek from the pod to the battle station was long and cold, but they made it without anything of notice.

At the battle station they found two stormtroopers and a technician giving a check up on computer. Without a word the resistance troopers sent off blaster shots, dropping them instantly, they hurried forward not willing to waste time.

Inside star killer base…

The Com's room, is cold and dark as the technician monitored the gleaming computers. The night had been silent as a dying tauntaun (Meaning it was loud) the computers realest rhythmic beeps, and chimes. Then there was an alert as the stormtroopers on a routine mission trip to update the software and, the update had gone on fine and it was fully updated. But know the troopers com links and the technician dispatched had all gone off line. He sent an alert to the security. A few minutes later the doors hissed open and Kylo Ren himself, stalked in followed by a security detachment. His ever silent companion Captain Phasma  followed. He snapped a salute and gave them the chalk talk, detailing the information.

The slicer, hurried forward (slicer- star wars term for hacker) not willing to waste the precious time. She started tapping at the computer, bleeps and blooms emigration from the metal compartment echoing off the otherwise silent snow.

Kylo Ren lead the security team himself, and allowed the pleasure of the silent agony of his stormtroopers  at the cold, and of course they couldn't complain.
As they rounded the final hill of snow the battle station came into view and he saw the resistance scum, milling around the computer.

At last the slicer was finished and they could leave this, forsaken world behind, then a sizzling sound from behind them, they spun a day saw the cold merciless helmet of Kylo Ren's helmet shining in the harsh light. He spun around and cut down two of the five, the slicer backpedalling away as the Ewok loosed a round of blaster fire, he block all of the bolts but the remaining three had ditched, the heated the blaster fire from the stormtroopers coming at them but they didn't stop, until the pilot was shot in the head, killing him instantly.

The ewok, half turned tears streaming down its face, then ran the the remaining two fighters got to the escaped pod, firing up the engines and trying to exit, the horrible atmosphere.

They made it, intercepted by the resistance fleet the heroes flew into hyperspace. There only thoughts on their lost friends and not of the huge victory they had scored

Hey, me again what did you think of this project? Should I create more of these stories? and is star wars a good setting?
the other thing I am sorry about not posting for so long as i have been away and when i was home hadn't been able to post any thing due to not having anything.
Anyway thanks again

Star Wars Battle of Hoth

Star Wars Battle of Hoth...

Hey guys, yet another build for you to gaze your eyes upon. And today we have a build inspired by the popular game Battlefront, where you pose as an imperial or rebal soldier,in an attempt to rid the galaxy of evil (or fill it if your the empire) so pretty straight forward, the rebellion is attempting to defeat the snow troopers, while there doing the same.

Let's take a look at what we have, here we have the snow troopers gun (a little bit a lot awsome) and the rebel turret, In my opinion the snow troopers is cooler, but that's just me! What's your favorite?

This part is a kind of what if? Leaveing a story line for the reader to think of, so here it is, Darth Vader  and Luke Skywalker battling. I am sure that many of you are on the rebellions band wagon  but I have my fingers crossed for Darth Vader.

Please give me feed back about who would win in your opinion! And let me know if Star Wars is a thing I should build more and give me battles, and inpiration?

Thanks.

The X-Wing fighter

The X-Wing Fighter...

SO this build is a x-wing inspired from the x-wing at the begining of Star Wars the force awakens.
My version is piloted by an imperial assasain, That has the ability to controle the force, so here is the first photo :

So it blue (like the movie) Its actualy pretty big, and I was quite annoyed at how big it is, but all in all its really cool. So here are the minifigures

So the astromech droid, is a cross between obi-wans astromech and an engine, that I found. While the pilot is just a rebal helmet and imperial space gear.

Thanks, guys
Jayzien.
